Toronto v. Montreal...

I went to see the pre-seaons game between these two bitter old rivals yesterday. I was hoping to get a glance of one of my favorite players in the NHL, Alex Kovalev. He did not start for the Habs yesterday night though, neither did Koivu, Zednik, Bonk, Theodore, Souray, Ryder, Dandenault. I was like damn, that's their whole roster right there. It's pre-season so It's understandable. Right now its all about the rookies or the people in the farm system. They are showcasing their skill to clinch their spot in the big leagues. Toronto also did not have some of their stars in the lineup. Lindross, Allison, O'Neil, and Czerkawski also did not dress to play. There were others for the leafs, but I'm sure these are the only ones that Leafs fans actually care about.

It was a good game. The NHL is going to be insane this year. I hardly saw any icing calls yesterday which is good, and taking the redline out has definitly made the game much faster paced. All the new changes has led to more scoring. Sad to say, the Habs did lose to the Leafs yesterday 4-3. In the dieing seconds, Montreal had an extra attacker out and manage to get 1 more goal to make it 4-3, so I was happy about that. The only thing that concerned me, was the immense amount of penalties. I'm not sure about the stats for yesterday's game, but it seemed like Montreal had tonnes of more penalties. The new tougher crack-down on obstruction is gonna kill teams that don't have the speed this season.

As usual, half the ACC was Habs fans, the other half were Leafs fans. It's funny to see all the video clips they have on the main viewer taunting the Habs. Crowd goes wild for that stuff. It's all good. All I know, is the day I see a Habs v. Leafs game in Montreal... You know what I mean...

GO HABS GO!!!
